The American Homestead, a tradition that brought hard working families and thriving communities to the new west, can best be witnessed today when Saturday morning comes to our rural farming communities. The hard-working men and women who have spent the week among the corn and the cattle gather in front of the corner barbershop before it opens to get the best spot in line. Here, they will become themselves again with a clean cut, a smooth shave, and a morning paper to spark the conversation. This… is the homestead barbershop.

To create the Homestead Barbershop, we took Rive Gauche, a scent deeply rooted in the history of American shaving cream, and placed it square in the center of a classic, clean, traditional barbershop with an homage to Maison Margiela At The Barber.

Notes of Star Anise, Rosemary, and Basil bring the brisk morning of the farm alive, offset by the citrus on the summer breeze with Bergamot and Bitter Orange. Lavender and Geranium invite you into the barbershop in the mid notes, with clove and coumarin add a masculine spice. Finally, Patchouli, oak moss, vetiver bring a sense of the land, while black pepper, guaiac wood, and white musk bring a deep, rich sense of clean under the surface, not forgetting the rich nostalgia of the red leather barber chairs.

Lather up, take a breath, and step into the barbershop where time slows, and the American spirit lives on.
